Today I miss:

Apple cider.

Being near a beach. Actually, some of my roommates expressed excitement about being so near the ocean. I guess I have been pretty spoiled by my beach proximity.

My books. I haven't gone so long without reading a book since I learned how to read in the first place.

Being in control of my own transportation. Even in the Millennium Falcon.

Trader Joes. I haven't actually seen a grocery store since I arrived. Every does ALL their shopping at Walmart.

Mountains.

There are also a few things I don't miss.

I haven't seen a single spider since I arrived. I don't miss the little guys. In fact, I can't really even stand to look at this picture.

Paying for gas.

I love seeing fireworks rising above the trees when I go on break at work.

I love having palm trees right outside.

I love my vast tea collection. (This one isn't actually mine). I bought four boxes and my family sent me three more. I love waking up to Trader Joe's Jasmine-Green tea each morning!

Last night I actually met someone who had been to Shoreline Community College! My name tag says Shoreline CC, even though I begged them to put Seattle on it instead. Everyone asks me where Shoreline is and I just say Seattle. Several people have asked me what country I am from. Both of my managers and two of my trainers as well as several guests are convinced that I am British, or at least Canadian. No one really seems to believe my claim that I have never lived in an other country.
Well, I am having a great time. I miss you all, but I am enjoying this adventure. And don't worry, I am wearing sunscreen and staying away from aligators. I will try to post soon when I have new pictures!

Animal Kingdom Adventure

On my days off I went to the Animal Kingdom with my roommate Becca and some other friends, and then the next day with Bri and my roommate Victoria. Here is the "Tree of Life" wich is actually pretty cool. There are many different animals carved into it and it is surounded by creeks and waterfalls.

Here we are with Balloo the bear!

Honorary bugs.

Some dino friends.

They decided to let me drive.

Everest is a great rollercoaster. We went on it four times in a row! I am loving the lack of crowds in January. Ten minute waits are amazing.

Then we found Balloo and King Louie.

After flying to Mars. The navigator and the pilot. Deploy the shields! We had way too much fun.

I don't have much more news, my days are full of working, sleeping, and whatever else I can squeeze in between. I am begining to like my job a lot as I get the hang of it. Most of the guests at the lodge are pretty laid back, my co-workers are very helpful and patient with me. And I love working with some other Northwesterners. We like to complain about the lack of coffee places and good Asian food. I hve a few more days off soon, I'll try to post again soon!

High Fashion

At last, the long awaited uniform (or costume, as we are supposed to call it). These aren't the best photos, but I think that they come close to capturing my uniform, which embodies the wild spirit of the frontier, the bold independence of the first northwest settlers, and the heart and tradition of the Native Americans. At least, I think so.

Yep, pretty awesome.

This didn't really turn out, I was trying to get a picture of the belt buckle I have to -er, get to wear.

The classic mirror self-portrait.

Detail of the trim on my skirt.

A film noir shot.

This is where I will be working. I won't be very far from home after all! I heard that Disney likes to put people from the Northwest to work here, so maybe I will meet some people from home. And yes, I will be posting a picture of my uniform when I get it. Get excited.

Towel of Doom

I forgot to pack a beach towel, so I walked to Walgreens to buy one. They had four designs, Shrek, beer labels, an aligator with blood on it's teeth and a lunging shark. I bought the shark one, but I am a little too scared to look at it full on. It looks so intent on it's prey! But here it is Auntie Suzie, at your request.

The Kingdom of Magic

Yesterday the six of us went to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours. It was so much fun, although those of us who have been to disneyland have to agree that the Magic Kingdom is a little less magical. Pirates was not as much fun, with only one drop and less of a story. And Star Tours wasn't there, or Indiana Jones. But we still had a great time, catching a parade and a fireworks show. Here are just a few pictures. I don't have the group shots, I'll add those later.

Yes, we went on Small World.

I love the hippo.

Ah, Robin hood. My favorite character.

This is for you Dad, to remember your day as Tigger.

I wanted to meet the wicked step mother and sisters, but alas, the line was too long. I had to content myself with a picture from afar. They were hilarious, being rude to guests and singing out of tune and giggling obnoxiously.

An obligatory castle shot. I wish I looked as excited as Megan does!

The start of the parade.

This cracked me up. Imagine having to be one of the dancing brooms.

A rather unflattering shot of Belle's armpit.

I don't know why there are some weird links, just ignore them.

In Florida

I made it alive! After a sleepless red eye seated next to a fawning honeymoon couple I managed to transport myself and all my things to the apartment. It is 80 degrees here, which was a bit of a shock to my poor Washington body, but I am adjusting to the heat and time zone.
Here are some pictures of the apartment and room. Today we are going to the Magic Kingdom, expect some lovely photos soon!

Almost There

I leave tomorrow for Florida. I plan to use this blog to post some pictures, bare my soul, and display my dazzling intelect. Or just to post some pictures.
